Steffanie Blackmon

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Steffanie was a creative spirit from the very beginning.  As a young child, she enjoyed reading, writing and drawing even aspiring to be a children's book author.  She set out to write and illustrate her own short stories. With the support of her mother, Steffanie sent one of her works off to two children's publishers for consideration.  The rejection was bittersweet - emphasis on the bitter, which eventually led her to develop a love of sports.  She would go on to dedicate herself to basketball culminating in both personal and team accolades.  Throughout her journey, education was something imprinted upon her early on fostering within her a lifelong love of learning.  After her sports career, she would become a high school Math teacher, instructional coach and private tutor.  While her life's path was varied, Steffanie would find her way back to her first love - storytelling.
